Speaking engagement

Everything in your business is a strategy.

Yes, there’s marketing, financial, tech, growth, brand, sales, exit and so on.

Yet what about your people strategy?

This is by far THE most important part of any business, and the part most ignored.

CAUTION: This quickly becomes chaotic and costly.

In fact, it can cost you your business.

Greetings! Is your business:

  • an established business?
  • a family business?
  • a start-up?
  • a stalemated business?

How much do you know about yourself? Your partner? How well do your dreams and goals align? Do you and your partner ever talk? Is anyone listening? Is anyone pissed off about anything? Are you growing or going off the rails?

HINT: If You’re Not Growing, You’re Dying

I am utterly captivated by the courage, genius and heart of small business owners and entrepreneurs like you.  I know what it takes. So I help you strategize self, business and brand for growth and long-term success. What’s different is I start with PEOPLE—your leadership/partnership, which is the most overlooked secret weapon in business.

Strategy Begins and Ends With People

No matter how long you have been co-owners, no matter how you get along, your partnership is causing at least some turmoil that is affecting your business.  Even the best co-owners know this and are always focused on each other. But most aren’t. They treat their partnership as a given and pay it little or no attention unless it’s negative.

This one factor can make or break your business. If you have not been paying attention, now is the time, before it’s too late, like it was for me.

Been There, Done That

I didn’t become a partnership expert by being a psychologist (’tho I’ve been to one), a financial planner (‘tho I have one) or a lawyer (’tho I have one). I became an expert because I screwed up. I am a person like you who worked hard for decades, created a great business with a great partner and then lost it all. So I went on a mission to find out why this happened.  Ultimately, I asked myself two simple questions:

1. What didn’t I didn’t know about my partner?

2. What didn’t I know about myself?

It was amazing that starting from that simple place opened up a world of illuminating information and conversation about what it takes to be a damn good partner. I was stunned when I realized my mess could have been avoided had we just simply talked about what was really important.

I call my mess Partnersh*t. Our many years of success, camaraderie, support, joy and happiness had declined into backstabbing, gossip, factions, disconnection, secrecy and fighting over sh*t. We had no idea of the devastation we were creating, and in the end we lost not just the partnership but our beloved business and all 40 loyal and talented employees.

Are you suffering from this same thing? If so, NOW is the time to stop it before it robs you of everything you have worked so hard to create.

What to Do, What to Do?

This was not my first business but it was my first partnership. When it all turned to -sh*t, I was so emotionally, physically and financially devastated that I dedicated the next three years of my life to figuring out exactly why it failed. I traveled, studied, read, meditated, rested, taught, listened and cried my way to a massive turning point in my life. Yes, there is always a lesson.

What I Have Learned Is This:

If I wanted to move ahead with clarity, I had to face facts:

Partnersh*t Happens Because We Create It.

In the end, our partnership turned to Partnersh*t not because my partner or I were bad people—far from it. We were good people and good friends. It failed because we stopped taking care of the partnership.

Partnersh*t stems from a lack of mastery in 5 key areas:

  1. Lack of self-awareness
  2. Lack of accountability
  3. Lack of clarity
  4. Lack of defined outcome
  5. Inability to manage change.

Realizing that ours was 100% a partnership failure and not a business failure dramatically changed how I view co-owners and partnerships. Realizing that my partnership failure ultimately had nothing to do with my partner changed my life.

Think about that. If you are having problems and are looking to blame your partner, you’re traveling down the wrong road. Stop it now.

From this experience came my mission to help people like you avoid Partnersh*t by building your businesses from Real Beginning, on a strong Human Foundation. To do this, I created the Partnersh*t 2 Partnership Process. It’s an intensive look at you and your partner, and will help you both build something strong enough to endure the inevitable bumps that come with owning a business.

The P2P Process will teach you to:

  • Understand that business is all about people.
  • Understand that Business is Personal
  • Understand that you can have either Partnership or Partnersh*t. The choice is yours.
  • Become self-aware
  • Become accountable
  • Voice what you want and why you want it
  • Learn to listen
  • Manage your resources
  • Control the financial areas of your partnership
  • Create the present and future of both your partnership and your business
  • Learn that a great partnership takes time, work and commitment and is worth it!
